War on Terror Comes to Abrupt End??

Obama

I just read a headline on MSN.com that said the U.S. "War on Terror" is coming to a quick end under President Obama.  Is this for real?

(see:  http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28807952/)

I have been a huge fan of Obama since waking up from a lifetime of political slumber, oh, about 6 months ago when Obama really started making headlines.  And this guy just keeps getting better and better.

The War on Terror had no chance.  Just like the War on Poverty, the War on Drugs and the War on Cancer; it was doomed to fail.  Wars tend to focus on the problem, instead of solutions.  Obama, so far, is about thinking forward.

What a shock from the Bush Administration!  (I lament that exactly 1/3 of my life has been lived under the "Bush Administration," whether it was Sr. or Jr.)  Where we once were led by fear and we are now led by hope.  When I used to watch Bush speak I could literally feel the energy being sucked from me, I am now filled with inspiration watching Obama.  Where there was darkness there is now light.

And it's bright.

Obama's inaugural speech was brilliant.  He was honest, forthright, inspiring and intelligent.  Being American actually means something to me now.  I take a look at my community and ask, "What can I do to serve?"  I feel a sense of cooperation and "we're all in this together," instead of "every man for himself."

Obama has opened a space for us to call out injustice, to speak the truth, to challenge what we feel is wrong.  He is taking a hard stand for what he believes.  I do not sense any BS about him, either.  He is showing us grace and humility - and he is strong.

Is this really our American leader?

I am excited and feel renewed.  But it also means I have work to do.  No more excuses.  No more feelings of, ‘what will it matter anyway?'

It's time to get busy.  And I am thrilled to get started!!
